We recently teamed up with Spectra Racing, an exciting cyclocross team making waves in the space.
A hybrid take on at least three forms of cycling, the sport has attracted growing interest in recent times. With courses featuring a mix of terrain - including grass, mud and gravel - as well as obstacles such as stairs and wooden hurdles, its similarity to steeplechase is evident.
The bike itself takes influence from road and mountain bikes, although it is generally more aligned with the road bike design. A lightweight, aerodynamic frame for speed, paired with thicker tyres for difficult terrain, is the go-to formula.
Founded in 2021, Spectra Racing has seen success on the international circuit. The team is growing, with an array of bright talent coming through the ranks. A recent trip to County Tipperary for the Cross Clonmel saw Spectra athlete, Jenson Young, finish first. With the Cyclocross season just beginning, more success is on the horizon.
We have provided the whole team with Sealskinz gear for the coming season. Waterproof socks, gloves and overshoes are essential in the sport, offering protection in wet, cold conditions. Importantly, Bodham gloves and Scoulton socks combine complete waterproofness with breathability, letting excess heat and perspiration escape on your ride. Aquasealz™ technology will help the team as conditions become more difficult in Autumn and Winter.
Spectra will be using the Scoulton - our lightest, thinnest waterproof sock, ideal for exercise. A three-layer Aquasealz™ construction features a durable exterior fabric and a flexible inner lining, working dynamically with a fully waterproof and breathable membrane. Hydrostop™ enforces waterproofness, ensuring water does not trickle down leg into top of sock. Feet remain aerated and dry during intense physical activity - ideal for cycling in wet conditions.
